Proudly Announces Our Multi-Author Book Signing March 17, 2013

The Conference itself opens Friday evening with a Welcome Dessert Reception. You and the other attendees will be able to eat, drink and mingle while being entertained by the fabulous a cappella group Flipside.

We’ll have workshops from award winning authors covering all aspects of writing from genre specialties to the business of writing in today’s world. Just take a look at our Speakers Page here for the incredible names.

What would a conference be without editors and agents? And we have some of the best! You can find the list here and we continue to update so keep coming back. Plus, not only will we be having editor and agent pitch appointments, we are also offering editor and agent critique groups.

Critique Groups What’s this? Okay, you and four other writers will send in a maximum of ten pages no later than January 25th, 2013. The pages will be sent to the editor or agent leading your critique group and the other writers’ work will be sent to you. You will then have an hour where the five of you and the editor or agent discuss the pages: what works, what needs work, and how to make it better. You will share this experience with a publishing professional and four other writers. There is an additional fee of $25.00, and you’ll find that it’s worth every penny.

We have featured guests, of course. There is the wonderful, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Jill Shalvis who has written over four dozen romance novels. Her Simply Irrisistable won a RITA, and she’s a 3-time National Readers Choice winner. As Suzanne Forster says of Jill, “Jill Shalvis is a total original! Humor, intrigue and scintillating sex. It doesn’t get any better.” Jill has a daily blog where she recounts her misplaced City Girl adventures.

Julia Quinn is another amazing luncheon speaker. She is a #1 New York Times bestselling author who makes lie of the myth that smart women don’t read or write romance. Julia is the youngest member of the Romance Writers of America’s Hall of Fame. This is an author who knows that the best things about being a writer are “You’re Queen of the World” and no one at a cocktail party will ever have a cooler job than you do. This is not someone you’ll want to miss hearing.

Then there is the fabulous, incredible and funny Barbara Vey. Yep, she’ll be at the conference too. She’ll share her knowledge of the romance industry from a reader’s perspective. Barbara will show us ways that writers can build reader loyalty as well as their online presence. Barbara’s anniversary party on the Beyond Her Book Blog on Publisher’s Weekly crashed the site last year with over 30,000 comments, and we’re excited to have her with us to share her tips to grow your online presence.

Book Camp What if you can’t attend the whole weekend?  We thought about that, too! We added a special “Book Camp” on Friday that will enable you to plot a brand new story in a single afternoon.  Spend a half-day under the guidance of published authors as you create a new novel.  You’ll come away with the character and story basics that will enable you to create a solid synopsis. If you’re coming to the conference and want to start it off with an intensive writing experience, then you can add this Early Bird workshop for a nominal fee of $40.00 when you register.  Or, if you can’t make the conference but you still want to take part in this amazing, hands-on workshop, just click here.

Saturday afternoon one of our speakers will lead an Afternoon Tea Salon and Saturday evening one of our speakers will lead a Night Tales Salons. Only conference attendees will be able to throw in for this opportunity. Each conference attendee will have one opportunity they can throw into the pail for their favorite speaker. But we’d never limit our guests to just one chance. You’ll be able to purchase additional tickets to increase your opportunity to get into one of these salons. $5.00 will get you one ticket. $10.00 will get your three tickets and $20.00 will get you 10 tickets. You and nine other attendees will have the chance to share an hour with a bestselling author.

The winners of the newest contest California Hooker will be announced at the Awards Luncheon on Sunday. You can find out more here. We end the conference with a book signing. Yep, you’ll be able to go home with great memories and most importantly books signed by your favorite authors.
